According to the Daily Mail, “A 13-year-old girl who went missing and triggered an Amber Alert has been found hundreds of miles away from her home while a man she reportedly met online and who was with her has been arrested.
Ambert Lynn Rewerts-Schiavoni went missing from her home in Lenexa, Kansas on Wednesday.
She was last seen at around 1pm on Wednesday leaving her house with a 22-year-old man, according to KMBC-TV.
Police said she told her mother that she was headed to Oak Park Mall.
At 4pm that day, Rewert-Schiavoni was seen with Deshon White at the Greyhoud Bus Station ticket counter in Kansas City, Missouri.
An Amber Alert was first sent out Friday afternoon but canceled a few hours later after authorities announced the girl was found in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Amber met White online and developed an internet relationship with him, according to KCTV.
Earlier this week, Amber and her father, William Rewerts, went out for an early celebration of her 13th birthday.
Her father is reported to have told Amber to break off contact with White, but she refused.
Instead, she left her father’s home and went to stay with her mother.
William Rewerts says her daughter was told by White that he was really 16 years old.
Amber and White were reportedly seen boarding a bus from Kansas City to St. Paul on the Fourth of July.
During the two days she was missing, Amber’s family tried to communicate with her through social media, but they didn’t believe Amber was the person on the other end.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension found Amber on Friday and took White into custody.
Detectives notified William Rewerts that his daughter was found.
‘I’m grateful,’ William Rewerts said. ‘I’m glad. Now, I just got to go get her. That’s it.’
‘Thank you to all that providedinformation in this matter and the media’s assistance in sharing the alert so rapidly,’ the authorities said.
White has a criminal record. Four years ago, he was arrested for possession of afirearm on school property.”
