Last night, a reported 27 tornadoes touched down in Iowa causing significant damage.
They were totally unexpected and hit cities Marshalltown, Pella and Bondurant, flattening hundreds of buildings. Unity Point Health Hospital in Marshalltown was even forced to evacuate all 40 of its patients.
According to reports, Alex Krull, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, said that his forecast only predicted a slight chance of thunderstorms. “This morning, it didn’t look like tornadic supercells were possible,” Krull said. “If anything, we were expecting we could get some large hail if strong storms developed.”
At least 17 people were injured last night. We are keeping all of the affected in our prayers
