White Man, Micheal Drejka Who Killed A Black Man Would Not Be Arrested

A white man and a black man got into a heated confrontation over a handicap parking spot, and things went left real quick. The white man, Michael Drejka, 47, shot and killed the black man, Markeis McGlockton, 28. What’s throwing a lot of people off about this situation is that a Florida sheriff said his department won’t be arresting the man who did it!

According to The Tampa Bay Times, Michael is getting off the hook because he cited the state’s “stand your ground” law.

@Ebony reports, the “law protects those who use deadly force to defend themselves if they are in fear of their lives, and according to the sheriff’s office, this incident falls under the law.”

So let’s get into what exactly happened. Authorities said that Michael confronted Markeis’ girlfriend, Brittany Jacobs, because she parked in the handicap spot. During their confrontation, Markeis “slammed [Michael] to the ground,” and that is when Micheal pulled out his handgun and shot Markeis in the chest,” Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said.

“The incident is within the bookends of ‘stand your ground’ and within the bookends of force being justified,” Gualtieri said. “I’m not saying I agree with it, but I don’t make that call.”

Michel told police that he was afraid that he would be harmed again. He did own the gun and had a permit to carry the weapon.

“Our job and our role is not to substitute our judgment for the law and what the Legislature has crafted as the framework,” Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said, “but to enforce it equally and fairly as we’re required to do.”
